The Most Merciful. A surah of blessings, with a refrain repeated 31 times: which of your Lord's favours will you deny?

  • God's mercy
  • Blessings in creation
  • Balance and justice

What it’s about

Surah ar-Rahman lists God’s gifts: the Quran, the ability to speak, the sun and moon, the plants and fruit, the seas and what comes from them. After each set of blessings comes the question: fa bi-ayyi ala’i rabbikuma tukadhdhiban, “Which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?”

Why it matters for you

It’s a surah about gratitude and about balance, in nature and in how we treat each other. Listening to it recited is one of the best ways to feel its rhythm.
