56. Al-Waaqia

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ۝١

اِذَا وَقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَةُ ۙ‏ ۝١

56:1 When the Imminent Event (of Doom) will occur,

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ۝٢

لَيۡسَ لِـوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ​ ۘ‏ ۝٢

56:2 there will be no one to deny its occurrence.

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ۝٣

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ۙ‏ ۝٣

56:3 It will be abasing (some), exalting (others)

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ۝٤

اِذَا رُجَّتِ الۡاَرۡضُ رَجًّا ۙ‏ ۝٤

56:4 when the earth will be jolted with a terrible jolt,

وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ۝٥

وَّبُسَّتِ الۡجِبَالُ بَسًّا ۙ‏ ۝٥

56:5 and the mountains will be crumbled a thorough crumbling,

فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا ۝٦

فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءً مُّنۡۢبَـثًّا ۙ‏ ۝٦

56:6 until they will become dust, scattered in the air,

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَٰثَةً ۝٧

وَّكُنۡـتُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ثَلٰـثَـةً ؕ‏ ۝٧

56:7 and you will be (divided into) three categories.

فَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ۝٨

فَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ؕ‏ ۝٨

56:8 As for the People of the Right, how (lucky) are the People of the Right!

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ ۝٩

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِؕ‏ ۝٩

56:9 And the People of the Left ? How (wretched) are the People of the Left!

وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ۝١٠

وَالسّٰبِقُوۡنَ السّٰبِقُوۡنَۚ  ۙ‏ ۝١٠

56:10 And the Foremost are the foremost.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ۝١١

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ​ۚ‏ ۝١١

56:11 Those are the ones blessed with nearness (to Allah)

فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ۝١٢

فِىۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيۡمِ‏ ۝١٢

56:12 in gardens of bliss,

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۝١٣

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝١٣

56:13 many from the first generations,

وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ۝١٤

وَقَلِيۡلٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏ ۝١٤

56:14 and a few from the later ones.

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ ۝١٥

عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مَّوۡضُوۡنَةٍۙ‏ ۝١٥

56:15 (They will be sitting) on thrones woven with gold,

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ۝١٦

مُّتَّكِـــِٕيۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقٰبِلِيۡنَ‏ ۝١٦

56:16 reclining on them, facing each other.

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ ۝١٧

يَطُوۡفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝١٧

56:17 Immortal boys will rotate around them

بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ ۝١٨

بِاَكۡوَابٍ وَّاَبَارِيۡقَ ۙ وَكَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِيۡنٍۙ‏ ۝١٨

56:18 with bowls and jugs and a goblet of pure wine,

لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ ۝١٩

لَّا يُصَدَّعُوۡنَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنۡزِفُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝١٩

56:19 from which they will neither suffer headache, nor will they be intoxicated,

وَفَٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ۝٢٠

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٢٠

56:20 -and with fruits that they choose,

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ۝٢١

وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرٍ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٢١

56:21 and the flesh of birds that they desire.

وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ۝٢٢

وَحُوۡرٌ عِيۡنٌۙ‏ ۝٢٢

56:22 And (for them there will be) houris, having lovely big eyes,

كَأَمْثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ ۝٢٣

كَاَمۡثَالِ اللُّـؤۡلُـوٴِالۡمَكۡنُوۡنِ​ۚ‏ ۝٢٣

56:23 all (neat and clean) like a hidden pearl,

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ۝٢٤

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ ۝٢٤

56:24 as a reward for what they used to do.

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ۝٢٥

لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا لَغۡوًا وَّلَا تَاۡثِيۡمًا ۙ‏ ۝٢٥

56:25 They will hear neither an absurd talk in it, nor something leading to sin,

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَٰمًا سَلَٰمًا ۝٢٦

اِلَّا قِيۡلًا سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا‏ ۝٢٦

56:26 but (they will hear) the words of Salām , Salām (as greetings).

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ ۝٢٧

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ۝٢٧

56:27 And the People of the right? How (lucky) are the People of the Right!

فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ ۝٢٨

فِىۡ سِدۡرٍ مَّخۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏ ۝٢٨

56:28 (They will be) amid lote-trees with no thorns,

وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ ۝٢٩

وَّطَلۡحٍ مَّنۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏ ۝٢٩

56:29 and the trees of TalH , (banana, or a fragrant tree) having layers one upon the other,

وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ ۝٣٠

وَّظِلٍّ مَّمۡدُوۡدٍۙ‏ ۝٣٠

56:30 and a shade, spread all over,

وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ ۝٣١

وَّ مَآءٍ مَّسۡكُوۡبٍۙ‏ ۝٣١

56:31 and water, poured forth,

وَفَٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ۝٣٢

وَّفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيۡرَةٍۙ‏ ۝٣٢

56:32 and a lot of fruits,

لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ۝٣٣

لَّا مَقۡطُوۡعَةٍ وَّلَا مَمۡنُوۡعَةٍۙ‏ ۝٣٣

56:33 neither interrupted (in any season), nor prohibited,

وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ ۝٣٤

وَّ فُرُشٍ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍؕ‏ ۝٣٤

56:34 and mattresses of high quality.

إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً ۝٣٥

اِنَّاۤ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُنَّ اِنۡشَآءًۙ‏ ۝٣٥

56:35 Surely We have made up those females in a special creation,

فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ۝٣٦

فَجَعَلۡنٰهُنَّ اَبۡكَارًاۙ‏ ۝٣٦

56:36 and have made them virgins,

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ۝٣٧

عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًاۙ‏ ۝٣٧

56:37 amorous to their husbands, matching them in age,

لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ۝٣٨

لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ۝٣٨

56:38 for the People of the Right,

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۝٣٩

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٣٩

56:39 (comprising) many from the first generations,

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ۝٤٠

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏ ۝٤٠

56:40 and many from the later ones.

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ ۝٤١

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِؕ‏ ۝٤١

56:41 And the People of the Left? How (wretched) are the People of the Left!

فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ۝٤٢

فِىۡ سَمُوۡمٍ وَّحَمِيۡمٍۙ‏ ۝٤٢

56:42 (They will be) in scorching wind and boiling water,

وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ۝٤٣

وَّظِلٍّ مِّنۡ يَّحۡمُوۡمٍۙ‏ ۝٤٣

56:43 and in a shade of black smoke,

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ۝٤٤

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيۡمٍ‏ ۝٤٤

56:44 neither cool nor graceful.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ۝٤٥

اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا قَبۡلَ ذٰ لِكَ مُتۡرَفِيۡنَۚ  ۖ‏ ۝٤٥

56:45 They were earlier in luxuries,

وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۝٤٦

وَكَانُوۡا يُصِرُّوۡنَ عَلَى الۡحِنۡثِ الۡعَظِيۡمِ​ۚ‏ ۝٤٦

56:46 and used to persist in major sins,

وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ۝٤٧

وَكَانُوۡا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ۙ اَٮِٕذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٤٧

56:47 and used to say, “Is it that when we die and become dust-is it that we will be raised again,

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ۝٤٨

اَوَاٰبَآؤُنَا الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ‏ ۝٤٨

56:48 and our ancient fathers as well?”

قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ۝٤٩

قُلۡ اِنَّ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ وَالۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٤٩

56:49 Say, “All the earlier and the later ones

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ۝٥٠

لَمَجۡمُوۡعُوۡنَ ۙ اِلٰى مِيۡقَاتِ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍ‏ ۝٥٠

56:50 will be gathered together for a fixed time of a specified Day.

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٥١

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ اَيُّهَا الضَّآلُّوۡنَ الۡمُكَذِّبُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٥١

56:51 Then O you, the erring, the denying people,

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ ۝٥٢

لَاٰكِلُوۡنَ مِنۡ شَجَرٍ مِّنۡ زَقُّوۡمٍۙ‏ ۝٥٢

56:52 you will have to eat from the tree of zaqqūm,

فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ۝٥٣

فَمٰلِــُٔوۡنَ مِنۡهَا الۡبُطُوۡنَ​ۚ‏ ۝٥٣

56:53 and to fill with it the bellies,

فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ۝٥٤

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ الۡحَمِيۡمِ​ۚ‏ ۝٥٤

56:54 then on top of it you will have to drink boiling water,

فَشَٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ ۝٥٥

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ شُرۡبَ الۡهِيۡمِؕ‏ ۝٥٥

56:55 and to drink like camels suffering from the disease of over-thirst.

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ ۝٥٦

هٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الدِّيۡنِؕ‏ ۝٥٦

56:56 This will be their welcome entertainment on the Day of Requital.

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ۝٥٧

نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُوۡنَ‏ ۝٥٧

56:57 We have created you; then why do you not believe in it?

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ ۝٥٨

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تُمۡنُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٥٨

56:58 So, tell Me about the semen you drop (in the wombs):

ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ ۝٥٩

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡخٰلِقُوۡنَ‏ ۝٥٩

56:59 Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator?

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ۝٦٠

نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ الۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٦٠

56:60 We have appointed (the times of) death among you, and We cannot be frustrated

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ۝٦١

عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّبَدِّلَ اَمۡثَالَـكُمۡ وَنُـنۡشِئَكُمۡ فِىۡ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏  ۝٦١

56:61 from replacing you with others like you, and creating you (afresh) in that (form) which you do not know.

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٦٢

وَلَـقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ النَّشۡاَةَ الۡاُوۡلٰى فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٢

56:62 And you certainly know the first creation; then why do you not take lesson?

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ ۝٦٣

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تَحۡرُثُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٦٣

56:63 Well, tell Me about that (seed) which you sow:

ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ ۝٦٤

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الزّٰرِعُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٤

56:64 Is it you who grow it, or are We the One who grows?

لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ حُطَٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ ۝٦٥

لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَـعَلۡنٰهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٥

56:65 If We so will, We can certainly make it crumbled, and you will remain wondering,

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ ۝٦٦

اِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٦٦

56:66 (and saying,) “We are laden with debt,

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ۝٦٧

بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُوۡمُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٧

56:67 rather we are totally deprived.”

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ ۝٦٨

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ الۡمَآءَ الَّذِىۡ تَشۡرَبُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٦٨

56:68 Again, tell Me about the water you drink:

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ ۝٦٩

ءَاَنۡـتُمۡ اَنۡزَلۡـتُمُوۡهُ مِنَ الۡمُزۡنِ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡزِلُوۡنَ‏  ۝٦٩

56:69 Is it you who have brought it down from the clouds, or are We the One who sends (it) down?

لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ۝٧٠

لَوۡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنٰهُ اُجَاجًا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٧٠

56:70 If We so will, We can make it bitter in taste. So why do you not offer gratitude?

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ ۝٧١

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِىۡ تُوۡرُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٧١

56:71 Now tell Me about the fire you kindle:

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ ۝٧٢

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡشَاۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَاۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡشِـُٔـوۡنَ‏ ۝٧٢

56:72 Is it you who have originated its tree, or are We the Originator?

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ ۝٧٣

نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةً وَّمَتَاعًا لِّلۡمُقۡوِيۡنَ​ۚ‏ ۝٧٣

56:73 We have made it a reminder (of Our infinite power, and of the fire of Hell) and a benefit for travelers in deserts.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۝٧٤

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ‏ ۝٧٤

56:74 So, proclaim purity of the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٧٥

فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوۡمِۙ‏‏ ۝٧٥

56:75 So, I swear by the setting places of the stars,

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ۝٧٦

وَاِنَّهٗ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ عَظِيۡمٌۙ‏ ۝٧٦

56:76 -and indeed it is a great oath, if you are to appreciate-

إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ ۝٧٧

اِنَّهٗ لَـقُرۡاٰنٌ كَرِيۡمٌۙ‏ ۝٧٧

56:77 it is surely the Noble Qur’ān,

فِى كِتَٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ ۝٧٨

فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ مَّكۡنُوۡنٍۙ‏ ۝٧٨

56:78 (recorded already) in a protected book (i.e. the Preserved Tablet)

لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ ۝٧٩

لَّا يَمَسُّهٗۤ اِلَّا الۡمُطَهَّرُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٧٩

56:79 that is not touched except by the purified ones (the angels).

تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٨٠

تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏ ۝٨٠

56:80 - a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ ۝٨١

اَفَبِهٰذَا الۡحَـدِيۡثِ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّدۡهِنُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٨١

56:81 Is it this discourse that you take lightly,

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٨٢

وَتَجۡعَلُوۡنَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُوۡنَ‏ ۝٨٢

56:82 and take your denial as your livelihood?

فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ ۝٨٣

فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ الۡحُـلۡقُوۡمَۙ‏ ۝٨٣

56:83 So why (do you) not (intervene) when the soul (of a dying person) reaches the throat,

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ ۝٨٤

وَاَنۡتُمۡ حِيۡنَٮِٕذٍ تَـنۡظُرُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٨٤

56:84 and you are watching?

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ۝٨٥

وَنَحۡنُ اَقۡرَبُ اِلَيۡهِ مِنۡكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٨٥

56:85 And We are closer to him than you, but you do not perceive.

فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ۝٨٦

فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِيۡنِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٨٦

56:86 So, if you are not going to be recompensed (in the Hereafter for your deeds), then why do you not

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ۝٨٧

تَرۡجِعُوۡنَهَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ‏ ۝٨٧

56:87 bring the soul back, if you are truthful?

فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ ۝٨٨

فَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٨٨

56:88 So, in case he (the dying person) is from among those blessed with nearness,

فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ۝٨٩

فَرَوۡحٌ وَّ رَيۡحَانٌ ۙ وَّجَنَّتُ نَعِيۡمٍ‏ ۝٨٩

56:89 then (for him) there is comfort and fragrance and garden of bliss.

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ۝٩٠

وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِۙ‏ ۝٩٠

56:90 And in case he is from among the People of the Right,

فَسَلَٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ۝٩١

فَسَلٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ۝٩١

56:91 then, (it will be said to him,) “Peace is for you, as you are one of the People of the Right.”

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ۝٩٢

وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُكَذِّبِيۡنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَۙ‏ ۝٩٢

56:92 But if he is one of the deniers, the astray,

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ۝٩٣

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنۡ حَمِيۡمٍۙ‏ ۝٩٣

56:93 then (for him) there is entertainment from boiling water,

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ۝٩٤

وَّتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيۡمٍ‏ ۝٩٤

56:94 and burning in the Hell.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ۝٩٥

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الۡيَـقِيۡنِۚ‏ ۝٩٥

56:95 Indeed this is certainty in its true sense.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۝٩٦

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ‏ ۝٩٦

56:96 So, proclaim purity of the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.
