بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ ١
هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡغَاشِيَةِؕ ١
88:1 Has there come to you the description of the Overwhelming Event?
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ ٢
وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ۙ ٢
88:2 Many faces that day will be humbled,
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ٣
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۙ ٣
88:3 laboring, exhausted.
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ٤
تَصۡلٰى نَارًا حَامِيَةً ۙ ٤
88:4 They will enter into the scorching fire.
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ ٥
تُسۡقٰى مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ اٰنِيَةٍؕ ٥
88:5 They will be made to drink water from a boiling spring.
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ٦
لَـيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنۡ ضَرِيۡعٍۙ ٦
88:6 There will be no food for them except from a thorny plant
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ ٧
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِىۡ مِنۡ جُوۡعٍؕ ٧
88:7 that will neither nourish, nor satisfy hunger.
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ٨
وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ۙ ٨
88:8 Many faces that day will be full of glamour,
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ٩
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ۙ ٩
88:9 well pleased with their endeavor,
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ١٠
فِىۡ جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۙ ١٠
88:10 in a lofty garden,
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً ١١
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيۡهَا لَاغِيَةً ؕ ١١
88:11 in which they will not hear any absurd talk.
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ١٢
فِيۡهَا عَيۡنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ۘ ١٢
88:12 In it there is a flowing spring.
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ١٣
فِيۡهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٌ ۙ ١٣
88:13 In it there are elevated couches
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ١٤
وَّاَكۡوَابٌ مَّوۡضُوۡعَةٌ ۙ ١٤
88:14 and goblets, well placed,
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ١٥
وَّنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوۡفَةٌ ۙ ١٥
88:15 and cushions, arrayed
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ١٦
وَّزَرَابِىُّ مَبۡثُوۡثَةٌ ؕ ١٦
88:16 and carpets, spread around.
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ١٧
اَفَلَا يَنۡظُرُوۡنَ اِلَى الۡاِ بِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ ١٧
88:17 So, do they not look at the camels how they are created,
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ١٨
وَاِلَى السَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ ١٨
88:18 and at the sky, how it is raised high,
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ١٩
وَاِلَى الۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ ١٩
88:19 and at the mountains, how they are installed,
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ٢٠
وَاِلَى الۡاَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ ٢٠
88:20 and at the earth, how it is spread out?
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ٢١
فَذَكِّرۡ ؕ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ؕ ٢١
88:21 So, (O Prophet,) keep on preaching; you are only a preacher.
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ٢٢
لَـسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ بِمُصَۜيۡطِرٍۙ ٢٢
88:22 You are not a taskmaster set up over them,
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ٢٣
اِلَّا مَنۡ تَوَلّٰى وَكَفَرَۙ ٢٣
88:23 but whoever turns away and disbelieves,
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ ٢٤
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللّٰهُ الۡعَذَابَ الۡاَكۡبَرَؕ ٢٤
88:24 Allah will punish him with the greatest torment.
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ٢٥
اِنَّ اِلَيۡنَاۤ اِيَابَهُمۡۙ ٢٥
88:25 Surely towards Us they have to return,
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ٢٦
ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُمْ ٢٦
88:26 then it is Our job to call them to account.
