- Guidance
What it’s about
Al-Fatihah is the first surah of the Quran and the one Muslims know best. It is recited in every rak’ah of every prayer, so a Muslim who prays five times a day says it at least seventeen times.
It moves in three steps: praise of God as Lord of all the worlds and Master of the Day of Judgement, a promise to worship Him alone and ask only Him for help, and a request: guide us to the straight path.
Why it matters for you
Al-Fatihah is a conversation, not just a recitation. It teaches that the most important thing to ask for, above success, money or anything else, is guidance.
Try this
Next time you pray, pause briefly after each ayah and think about its meaning. Many people find it changes how their prayer feels.
