40. Al-Ghaafir

حمٓ ۝١

حٰمٓ​ ۚ‏ ۝١

40:1 Hā Mīm .

تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ ۝٢

تَنۡزِيۡلُ الۡكِتٰبِ مِنَ اللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡعَلِيۡمِۙ‏ ۝٢

40:2 This is revelation of the Book from Allah, the Mighty, the All-Knowing,

غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ۝٣

غَافِرِ الذَّنۡۢبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوۡبِ شَدِيۡدِ الۡعِقَابِ ذِى الطَّوۡلِؕ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَؕ اِلَيۡهِ الۡمَصِيۡرُ‏ ۝٣

40:3 the One who forgives sins and accepts repentance, the One who is severe in punishment, the One who is the source of all power. There is no god but He. To Him is the ultimate return (of all).

مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَلَا يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ ۝٤

مَا يُجَادِلُ فِىۡۤ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فَلَا يَغۡرُرۡكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمۡ فِى الۡبِلَادِ‏ ۝٤

40:4 No one quarrels about the verses of Allah, except those who disbelieve. So, their (prosperous) movements in the cities should not deceive you.

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ ۖ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ ۖ وَجَٰدَلُوا۟ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ ۝٥

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحٍ وَّ الۡاَحۡزَابُ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ وَهَمَّتۡ كُلُّ اُمَّةٍۢ بِرَسُوۡلِهِمۡ لِيَاۡخُذُوۡهُ ؕ وَجَادَلُوۡا بِالۡبَاطِلِ لِيُدۡحِضُوۡا بِهِ الۡحَقَّ فَاَخَذۡتُهُمۡ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ‏ ۝٥

40:5 Before these, the people of NūH and the groups after them had rejected (the messengers). Every group intended to seize their messenger, and raised disputes on the basis of falsehood, so that they might refute the truth with it, hence I seized them. So, how was My punishment?

وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۝٦

وَكَذٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اَنَّهُمۡ اَصۡحٰبُ النَّارِ ​ۘ‏ ۝٦

40:6 And similarly, the word of your Lord has become due against those who disbelieve-that they are the people of the Fire.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ ٱلْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَٱغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ۝٧

اَلَّذِيۡنَ يَحۡمِلُوۡنَ الۡعَرۡشَ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهٗ يُسَبِّحُوۡنَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَيُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِهٖ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُوۡنَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا​ ۚ رَبَّنَا وَسِعۡتَ كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ رَّحۡمَةً وَّعِلۡمًا فَاغۡفِرۡ لِلَّذِيۡنَ تَابُوۡا وَاتَّبَعُوۡا سَبِيۡلَكَ وَقِهِمۡ عَذَابَ الۡجَحِيۡمِ‏ ۝٧

40:7 Those who are bearing the Throne and those who are around it pronounce the purity of your Lord along with His praise, and believe in Him, and pray for the forgiveness of those who believe, (saying): “Our Lord, Your mercy and knowledge comprehends everything; so forgive those who repent and follow Your way, and save them from the punishment of the Fire.

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ۝٨

رَبَّنَا وَاَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنّٰتِ عَدۡنِ اۨلَّتِىۡ وَعَدْتَّهُمۡ وَمَنۡ صَلَحَ مِنۡ اٰبَآٮِٕهِمۡ وَاَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيّٰتِهِمۡ ؕ اِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ ۙ‏ ۝٨

40:8 And, our Lord, admit them to the eternal gardens of Jannah (Paradise) that You have promised for them, and (admit) those as well who did good from among their fathers and wives and children. You, only You, are the Mighty, the Wise,

وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُۥ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ۝٩

وَقِهِمُ السَّيِّاٰتِ ؕ وَمَنۡ تَقِ السَّيِّاٰتِ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ فَقَدۡ رَحِمۡتَهٗ ؕ وَذٰ لِكَ هُوَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡعَظِيۡمُ‏ ۝٩

40:9 and save them from evils (of punishment). And whomsoever you save from evils that day, it is surely because you bless him with mercy. And that is the great achievement indeed.”

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ ۝١٠

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا يُنَادَوۡنَ لَمَقۡتُ اللّٰهِ اَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ مَّقۡتِكُمۡ اَنۡفُسَكُمۡ اِذۡ تُدۡعَوۡنَ اِلَى الۡاِيۡمَانِ فَتَكۡفُرُوۡنَ‏ ۝١٠

40:10 Those who disbelieve will be addressed (by a voice saying): “Allah’s hatred (for you), when you were invited to the true faith and you refused, was greater than your hatred for yourselves (today when you are hating your own selves out of remorse).

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَٱعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ ۝١١

قَالُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اَمَتَّنَا اثۡنَتَيۡنِ وَاَحۡيَيۡتَنَا اثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَاعۡتَرَفۡنَا بِذُنُوۡبِنَا فَهَلۡ اِلٰى خُرُوۡجٍ مِّنۡ سَبِيۡلٍ‏ ۝١١

40:11 They will say, “Our Lord, You gave us death twice and You gave us life twice. Now we confess our sins. So, is there any way to come out of here?”

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ ۖ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚ فَٱلْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلْعَلِىِّ ٱلْكَبِيرِ ۝١٢

ذٰ لِكُمۡ بِاَنَّهٗۤ اِذَا دُعِىَ اللّٰهُ وَحۡدَهٗ كَفَرۡتُمۡ ۚ وَاِنۡ يُّشۡرَكۡ بِهٖ تُؤۡمِنُوۡا ؕ فَالۡحُكۡمُ لِلّٰهِ الۡعَلِىِّ الۡكَبِيۡرِ‏ ۝١٢

40:12 (The reply will be, “No.) This is because whenever Allah alone was invoked, you used to disbelieve, and if partners were associated with Him, you used to believe. Now the decision lies with Allah, the High, the Great.”

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقًا ۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ ۝١٣

هُوَ الَّذِىۡ يُرِيۡكُمۡ اٰيٰتِهٖ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَـكُمۡ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ رِزۡقًا ؕ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ اِلَّا مَنۡ يُّنِيۡبُ‏ ۝١٣

40:13 It is He who shows you His signs and sends down provision for you from the sky; and no one takes lesson but the one who turns to Him.

فَٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ ۝١٤

فَادۡعُوا اللّٰهَ مُخۡلِصِيۡنَ لَهُ الدِّيۡنَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ الۡـكٰفِرُوۡنَ‏  ۝١٤

40:14 So, worship Allah, making your submission exclusive for Him, even though the disbelievers dislike (it).

رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ يُلْقِى ٱلرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ ۝١٥

رَفِيۡعُ الدَّرَجٰتِ ذُو الۡعَرۡشِ​ ۚ يُلۡقِى الرُّوۡحَ مِنۡ اَمۡرِهٖ عَلٰى مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهٖ لِيُنۡذِرَ يَوۡمَ التَّلَاقِ ۙ‏ ۝١٥

40:15 He is High in stations, the Lord of the Throne. He sends the spirit down, under His command, on whomever He wills from among His servants, so that he warns of the Day of Encounter -

يَوْمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَ ۖ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَىْءٌ ۚ لِّمَنِ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ ۝١٦

يَوۡمَ هُمۡ بَارِزُوۡنَ ۚ لَا يَخۡفٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ مِنۡهُمۡ شَىۡءٌ ؕ لِمَنِ الۡمُلۡكُ الۡيَوۡمَ ؕ لِلّٰهِ الۡوَاحِدِ الۡقَهَّارِ‏ ۝١٦

40:16 the day they will come in open view. Nothing about them will remain hidden from Allah. To whom belongs the kingdom today? To Allah alone, the One, the All-Dominant.

ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ ۚ لَا ظُلْمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ ۝١٧

اَ لۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزٰى كُلُّ نَـفۡسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ ؕ لَا ظُلۡمَ الۡيَوۡمَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِيۡعُ الۡحِسَابِ‏ ۝١٧

40:17 Today, everyone will be recompensed for what one earned. There is no injustice today. Surely, Allah is swift in reckoning.

وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلْحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَ ۚ مَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ يُطَاعُ ۝١٨

وَاَنۡذِرۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡاٰزِفَةِ اِذِ الۡقُلُوۡبُ لَدَى الۡحَـنَاجِرِ كٰظِمِيۡنَ ؕ مَا لِلظّٰلِمِيۡنَ مِنۡ حَمِيۡمٍ وَّلَا شَفِيۡعٍ يُّطَاعُ ؕ‏ ۝١٨

40:18 And warn them of the Day of approaching horror, when hearts will jump up into the throats, (and they will be) choked. There will be neither a friend for the unjust, nor an intercessor to be listened to.

يَعْلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِى ٱلصُّدُورُ ۝١٩

يَعۡلَمُ خَآٮِٕنَةَ الۡاَعۡيُنِ وَمَا تُخۡفِى الصُّدُوۡرُ‏ ۝١٩

40:19 He knows the treachery of the eyes and whatever is concealed by hearts.

وَٱللَّهُ يَقْضِى بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَىْءٍ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ ۝٢٠

وَاللّٰهُ يَقۡضِىۡ بِالۡحَقِّؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖ لَا يَقۡضُوۡنَ بِشَىۡءٍؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡبَصِيۡرُ‏ ۝٢٠

40:20 He will give His judgment with truth. And those whom they invoke beside Him cannot judge anything. Surely, it is Allah who is Hearing, Seeing.

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٍ ۝٢١

اَوَلَمۡ يَسِيۡرُوۡا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَيَنۡظُرُوۡا كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَانُوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡؕ كَانُوۡا هُمۡ اَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةً وَّاٰثَارًا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَاَخَذَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِذُنُوۡبِهِمۡؕ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ مِنۡ وَّاقٍ‏ ۝٢١

40:21 Have they not traveled through the earth and seen how was the fate of those who used to be before them? They were stronger than these in power and in traces left on the earth, but Allah seized them because of their sins. There was no one to save them from Allah.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُوا۟ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ ۝٢٢

ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمۡ كَانَتۡ تَّاۡتِيۡهِمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَكَفَرُوۡا فَاَخَذَهُمُ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهٗ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيۡدُ الۡعِقَابِ‏ ۝٢٢

40:22 That was because messengers used to come to them with clear signs, but they disbelieved. Then, Allah seized them. Surely, He is Strong, severe in punishment.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ۝٢٣

وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوۡسٰى بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطٰنٍ مُّبِيۡنٍۙ‏ ۝٢٣

40:23 Indeed We sent Mūsā with Our signs and a manifest proof

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَقَٰرُونَ فَقَالُوا۟ سَٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ ۝٢٤

اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَ هَامٰنَ وَقَارُوۡنَ فَقَالُوۡا سٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ‏ ۝٢٤

40:24 to Pharaoh and Hāmān and Qārūn, but they said, “He is a sorcerer, a liar.”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَبْنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسْتَحْيُوا۟ نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا كَيْدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ ۝٢٥

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ بِالۡحَقِّ مِنۡ عِنۡدِنَا قَالُوۡا اقۡتُلُوۡۤا اَبۡنَآءَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مَعَهٗ وَاسۡتَحۡيُوۡا نِسَآءَهُمۡؕ وَمَا كَيۡدُ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ اِلَّا فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ‏ ۝٢٥

40:25 And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who have accepted faith with him, and spare the lives of their women.” But the plot of the disbelievers is nothing but a failure.

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَن يُظْهِرَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْفَسَادَ ۝٢٦

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُوۡنِىۡۤ اَقۡتُلۡ مُوۡسٰى وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهٗ​ۚ اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ اَنۡ يُّبَدِّلَ دِيۡنَكُمۡ اَوۡ اَنۡ يُّظۡهِرَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ الۡفَسَادَ‏  ۝٢٦

40:26 And Pharaoh said, “Let me kill Mūsā, and let him call his Lord. I am afraid that he will change your religion or he will cause havoc to appear in the land.”

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ ۝٢٧

وَقَالَ مُوۡسٰٓى اِنِّىۡ عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّىۡ وَرَبِّكُمۡ مِّنۡ كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِيَوۡمِ الۡحِسَابِ‏ ۝٢٧

40:27 And Mūsā said, “I have sought protection of my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant man who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning.”

وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ مِّنْ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّىَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَكُ كَٰذِبًا فَعَلَيْهِ كَذِبُهُۥ ۖ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقًا يُصِبْكُم بَعْضُ ٱلَّذِى يَعِدُكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ كَذَّابٌ ۝٢٨

وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مُّؤۡمِنٌ ​ۖ مِّنۡ اٰلِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَكۡتُمُ اِيۡمَانَهٗۤ اَتَقۡتُلُوۡنَ رَجُلًا اَنۡ يَّقُوۡلَ رَبِّىَ اللّٰهُ وَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ مِنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ ؕ وَاِنۡ يَّكُ كَاذِبًا فَعَلَيۡهِ كَذِبُهٗ ؕ وَاِنۡ يَّكُ صَادِقًا يُّصِبۡكُمۡ بَعۡضُ الَّذِىۡ يَعِدُكُمۡ ۚ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهۡدِىۡ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٌ كَذَّابٌ‏  ۝٢٨

40:28 And said a believing man from the House of Pharaoh who had kept his faith secret, “Would you kill a man because he says - ‘Allah is my Lord’ - while he has come to you with clear signs from your Lord? If he is a liar, his lie will fall back on himself, and if he is truthful, some of that (punishment) of which he warns you will afflict you. Indeed, Allah does not give guidance to anyone who is transgressor, a liar.

يَٰقَوْمِ لَكُمُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأْسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَا ۚ قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمْ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهْدِيكُمْ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ۝٢٩

يٰقَوۡمِ لَـكُمُ الۡمُلۡكُ الۡيَوۡمَ ظٰهِرِيۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَمَنۡ يَّنۡصُرُنَا مِنۡۢ بَاۡسِ اللّٰهِ اِنۡ جَآءَنَا ؕ قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ مَاۤ اُرِيۡكُمۡ اِلَّا مَاۤ اَرٰى وَمَاۤ اَهۡدِيۡكُمۡ اِلَّا سَبِيۡلَ الرَّشَادِ‏ ۝٢٩

40:29 O my people, the kingdom is yours today, while you are dominant on the land. But, who is going to help us against Allah’s punishment, if it comes upon us?” Pharaoh said, “I do not give you an opinion unless I myself believe it to be correct, and I do not direct you to anything but to the right way.”

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُم مِّثْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ ۝٣٠

وَقَالَ الَّذِىۡۤ اٰمَنَ يٰقَوۡمِ اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ مِّثۡلَ يَوۡمِ الۡاَحۡزَابِۙ‏ ۝٣٠

40:30 Said he who had believed, “I fear for you something like a day of the (disbelieving) groups (of the past),

مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ ۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ ۝٣١

مِثۡلَ دَاۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوۡحٍ وَّعَادٍ وَّثَمُوۡدَ وَالَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡؕ وَمَا اللّٰهُ يُرِيۡدُ ظُلۡمًا لِّلۡعِبَادِ‏ ۝٣١

40:31 like the fate of the people of NūH and ‘Ād and Thamūd and those who were after them - and Allah does not intend to do any injustice to His servants.

وَيَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ ۝٣٢

وَيٰقَوۡمِ اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ يَوۡمَ التَّنَادِۙ‏ ۝٣٢

40:32 And O my people, I fear for you a day in which people will call one another,

يَوْمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدْبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ ۗ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ ۝٣٣

يَوۡمَ تُوَلُّوۡنَ مُدۡبِرِيۡنَ​ۚ مَا لَكُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمٍۚ وَمَنۡ يُّضۡلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَمَا لَهٗ مِنۡ هَادٍ‏ ۝٣٣

40:33 a day when you will turn back on your heels, having no one to save you from Allah - but, whomever Allah lets go astray, for him there is no one to guide.

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبْلُ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رَسُولًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ مُّرْتَابٌ ۝٣٤

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ يُوۡسُفُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَمَا زِلۡـتُمۡ فِىۡ شَكٍّ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُمۡ بِهٖ ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا هَلَكَ قُلۡتُمۡ لَنۡ يَّبۡعَثَ اللّٰهُ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهٖ رَسُوۡلًا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٌ مُّرۡتَابٌ  ۚ ۖ‏ ۝٣٤

40:34 And Yūsuf had already come to you earlier with clear signs, but you remained in suspicion about what he brought to you - until when he died, you said, ‘Allah will never send a messenger after him.’ That is how Allah lets go astray anyone who crosses limits and lives in doubt, -

ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ ۖ كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ جَبَّارٍ ۝٣٥

اۨلَّذِيۡنَ يُجَادِلُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطٰنٍ اَتٰٮهُمۡ ؕ كَبُـرَ مَقۡتًا عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ وَعِنۡدَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يَطۡبَعُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ قَلۡبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ جَبَّارٍ‏ ۝٣٥

40:35 those who quarrel in Allah’s verses without any authority having reached them. It is terribly hateful with Allah and with those who believe. That is how Allah stamps a seal on the entire heart of an arrogant tyrant.”

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبْنِ لِى صَرْحًا لَّعَلِّىٓ أَبْلُغُ ٱلْأَسْبَٰبَ ۝٣٦

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يٰهَامٰنُ ابۡنِ لِىۡ صَرۡحًا لَّعَلِّىۡۤ اَبۡلُغُ الۡاَسۡبَابَۙ‏  ۝٣٦

40:36 And Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) said, “O Hāmān, make a tower for me, perhaps I could reach the ways -

أَسْبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبًا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ ۚ وَمَا كَيْدُ فِرْعَوْنَ إِلَّا فِى تَبَابٍ ۝٣٧

اَسۡبَابَ السَّمٰوٰتِ فَاَطَّلِعَ اِلٰٓى اِلٰهِ مُوۡسٰى وَاِنِّىۡ لَاَظُنُّهٗ كَاذِبًا ؕ وَكَذٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوۡٓءُ عَمَلِهٖ وَصُدَّ عَنِ السَّبِيۡلِ ؕ وَمَا كَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِلَّا فِىۡ تَبَابٍ‏ ۝٣٧

40:37 the ways to the heavens, and peek towards the God of Mūsā. And indeed I deem him a liar.” That is how his evil deeds were made attractive to Fir‘aun, and (how) he was held back from the way. The evil design of Fir‘aun was (to end) in nothing but ruin.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ۝٣٨

وَقَالَ الَّذِىۡۤ اٰمَنَ يٰقَوۡمِ اتَّبِعُوۡنِ اَهۡدِكُمۡ سَبِيۡلَ الرَّشَادِ​ۚ‏  ۝٣٨

40:38 And said he who had believed, “O my people, follow me, I will show you the path of guidance.

يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَتَٰعٌ وَإِنَّ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ هِىَ دَارُ ٱلْقَرَارِ ۝٣٩

يٰقَوۡمِ اِنَّمَا هٰذِهِ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا مَتَاعٌ وَّاِنَّ الۡاٰخِرَةَ هِىَ دَارُ الۡقَرَارِ‏ ۝٣٩

40:39 O my people, this life of the world is only a (momentary) benefit, while the Hereafter is, indeed, the place of permanent living.

مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةً فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ ۝٤٠

مَنۡ عَمِلَ سَيِّـئَـةً فَلَا يُجۡزٰٓى اِلَّا مِثۡلَهَا ۚ وَمَنۡ عَمِلَ صَالِحًـا مِّنۡ ذَكَرٍ اَوۡ اُنۡثٰى وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٌ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ يَدۡخُلُوۡنَ الۡجَـنَّةَ يُرۡزَقُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٍ‏ ۝٤٠

40:40 The one who does something evil will not be punished but in its equal proportion, but the one who does a righteous deed, be he male or female, while he is a believer, then, such people will enter the Jannah (Paradise) where they will be provided with bounties beyond reckoning.

وَيَٰقَوْمِ مَا لِىٓ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ ۝٤١

وَيٰقَوۡمِ مَا لِىۡۤ اَدۡعُوۡكُمۡ اِلَى النَّجٰوةِ وَتَدۡعُوۡنَنِىۡۤ اِلَى النَّارِؕ‏ ۝٤١

40:41 And O my people, what is wrong with me that I call you to salvation and you call me to the Fire?

تَدْعُونَنِى لِأَكْفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَأَنَا۠ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْغَفَّٰرِ ۝٤٢

تَدۡعُوۡنَنِىۡ لِاَكۡفُرَ بِاللّٰهِ وَاُشۡرِكَ بِهٖ مَا لَيۡسَ لِىۡ بِهٖ عِلۡمٌ وَّاَنَا اَدۡعُوۡكُمۡ اِلَى الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡغَفَّارِ‏ ۝٤٢

40:42 You invite me to reject my belief in Allah and ascribe to Him partners about whom I have no knowledge, while I invite you to (Him who is) the Mighty, the Most-Forgiving.

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۝٤٣

لَا جَرَمَ اَنَّمَا تَدۡعُوۡنَنِىۡۤ اِلَيۡهِ لَيۡسَ لَهٗ دَعۡوَةٌ فِى الدُّنۡيَا وَلَا فِى الۡاٰخِرَةِ وَاَنَّ مَرَدَّنَاۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَاَنَّ الۡمُسۡرِفِيۡنَ هُمۡ اَصۡحٰبُ النَّارِ‏ ۝٤٣

40:43 It is obvious that those (gods) to whom you are inviting me are not worth calling, neither in this world nor in the world to come, and that we have to return back to Allah, and that the transgressors are indeed the people of the Fire.

فَسَتَذْكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ ۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ ۝٤٤

فَسَتَذۡكُرُوۡنَ مَاۤ اَقُوۡلُ لَـكُمۡؕ وَاُفَوِّضُ اَمۡرِىۡۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بَصِيۡرٌۢ بِالۡعِبَادِ‏ ۝٤٤

40:44 Soon you will remember what I am saying to you. And I entrust my matter with Allah. Surely, Allah has all (His) servants in sight.”

فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا۟ ۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۝٤٥

فَوَقٰٮهُ اللّٰهُ سَيِّاٰتِ مَا مَكَرُوۡا وَحَاقَ بِاٰلِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوۡٓءُ الۡعَذَابِ​ۚ‏ ۝٤٥

40:45 Then Allah saved him from the evils of what they designed, and the House of Pharaoh was encircled by an evil punishment.

ٱلنَّارُ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوًّا وَعَشِيًّا ۖ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْخِلُوٓا۟ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۝٤٦

اَلنَّارُ يُعۡرَضُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا غُدُوًّا وَّعَشِيًّا ۚ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُوۡمُ السَّاعَةُ اَدۡخِلُوۡۤا اٰلَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ اَشَدَّ الۡعَذَابِ‏ ۝٤٦

40:46 It is the Fire before which they are presented morning and evening. And on the day when the Hour (of final judgment) will take place, (the order will be released,): “Admit the family of Pharaoh into the most severe punishment.”

وَإِذْ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَٰٓؤُا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ ۝٤٧

وَاِذۡ يَتَحَآجُّوۡنَ فِى النَّارِ فَيَقُوۡلُ الضُّعَفٰٓؤُا لِلَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡۤا اِنَّا كُنَّا لَـكُمۡ تَبَعًا فَهَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّغۡنُوۡنَ عَنَّا نَصِيۡبًا مِّنَ النَّارِ‏ ۝٤٧

40:47 And (worth remembering is the time) when they (the infidels) will argue with each other in the Fire. So, the weak will say to those who were arrogant, “Surely, we used to be your followers, would you, then, stand for us in (suffering at least a) part of the (punishment of) Fire?”

قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ ٱلْعِبَادِ ۝٤٨

قَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡۤا اِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيۡهَاۤ ۙاِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدۡ حَكَمَ بَيۡنَ الۡعِبَادِ‏ ۝٤٨

40:48 Those who were arrogant will say, “We all are in it. Allah has already passed the judgment between (His) servants.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْمًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۝٤٩

وَقَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ فِى النَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ادۡعُوۡا رَبَّكُمۡ يُخَفِّفۡ عَنَّا يَوۡمًا مِّنَ الۡعَذَابِ‏ ۝٤٩

40:49 And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Jahannam (Hell), “Pray to your Lord to lighten the punishment for us some day.”

قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ ۚ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ ۝٥٠

قَالُوۡۤا اَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَاۡتِيۡكُمۡ رُسُلُكُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ ؕ قَالُوۡا بَلٰى ؕ قَالُوۡا​ فَادۡعُوۡا ۚ وَمَا دُعٰٓـؤُا الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ اِلَّا فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ‏  ۝٥٠

40:50 They will say, “Had your messengers not been coming to you with open signs?” They will say, “Of course, (they had come).” They (the keepers) will say, “Then, keep praying” - but praying of disbelievers (in the Hereafter) is only in vain.

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْأَشْهَٰدُ ۝٥١

اِنَّا لَنَـنۡصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا وَيَوۡمَ يَقُوۡمُ الۡاَشۡهَادُ ۙ‏ ۝٥١

40:51 Surely, We do help Our messengers and the believers, in the worldly life, as well as (we will help them) on the day in which witnesses will stand (to give their testimony)-

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ۝٥٢

يَوۡمَ لَا يَنۡفَعُ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡ وَلَهُمُ اللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوۡٓءُ الدَّارِ‏ ۝٥٢

40:52 a day when apology of the unjust will bring them no benefit, and on them shall be the curse, and for them will be the evil abode.

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ۝٥٣

وَلَقَدۡ اٰتَيۡنَا مُوۡسَى الۡهُدٰى وَاَوۡرَثۡنَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ الۡكِتٰبَۙ‏  ۝٥٣

40:53 We gave Guidance to Mūsā, while We made the children of Isrā’īl inherit the Book -

هُدًى وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ ۝٥٤

هُدًى وَّذِكۡرٰى لِاُولِى الۡاَلۡبَابِ‏ ۝٥٤

40:54 as a guide and advice for people of understanding.

فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ ۝٥٥

فَاصۡبِرۡ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِالۡعَشِىِّ وَالۡاِبۡكَارِ‏ ۝٥٥

40:55 So, be patient - surely the promise of Allah is true - and seek forgiveness for your sins, and proclaim the purity and praise of your Lord in the afternoon and at dawn.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ ۙ إِن فِى صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِ ۚ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ ۝٥٦

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يُجَادِلُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطٰنٍ اَتٰٮهُمۡۙ اِنۡ فِىۡ صُدُوۡرِهِمۡ اِلَّا كِبۡرٌ مَّا هُمۡ بِبَالِغِيۡهِؕ فَاسۡتَعِذۡ بِاللّٰهِؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡبَصِيۡرُ‏ ۝٥٦

40:56 Surely, those who quarrel in Allah’s verses without any authority having reached them, there is nothing in their hearts but pride of greatness that they are not (able) to reach. So, seek refuge with Allah. Surely, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

لَخَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝٥٧

لَخَلۡقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ اَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ خَلۡقِ النَّاسِ وَلٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ ۝٥٧

40:57 Certainly, the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of human beings, but most human beings do not know.

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا ٱلْمُسِىٓءُ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٥٨

وَمَا يَسۡتَوِى الۡاَعۡمٰى وَالۡبَصِيۡرُ ۙ وَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَلَا الۡمُسِىۡٓءُ ؕ قَلِيۡلًا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٥٨

40:58 The blind one and the sighted one are not equal, and those who believed and did good deeds and the evil ones are not (equal) either. Little you heed to the advice!

إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَـَٔاتِيَةٌ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ۝٥٩

اِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَاٰتِيَةٌ لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيۡهَا وَلٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ‏ ۝٥٩

40:59 Certainly, the Hour is bound to come. There is no doubt in it, but most of the people do not believe.

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدْعُونِىٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِى سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ ۝٦٠

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادۡعُوۡنِىۡۤ اَسۡتَجِبۡ لَـكُمۡؕ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُوۡنَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِىۡ سَيَدۡخُلُوۡنَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِيۡنَ‏ ۝٦٠

40:60 Your Lord has said, “Call Me, I will respond to you. Definitely those who show arrogance against worshipping Me shall enter Jahannam (Hell) with disgrace.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ۝٦١

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَـكُمُ الَّيۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُوۡا فِيۡهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًا ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَذُوۡ فَضۡلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَ لٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦١

40:61 Allah is the One who made for you the night, so that you may have rest in it, and the day to let you see. Surely, Allah is most kind to people, but most of the people do not offer gratitude.

ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ ۝٦٢

ذٰ لِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمۡ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ​ ۘ لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ ​ۚ  فَاَ نّٰى تُؤۡفَكُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٢

40:62 This is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of everything. There is no god but He. Then, from where are you being reversed (by your selfish desires)?

كَذَٰلِكَ يُؤْفَكُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ ۝٦٣

كَذٰلِكَ يُؤۡفَكُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَانُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ يَجۡحَدُوۡنَ‏  ۝٦٣

40:63 Similarly reversed were those who used to deny Our verses.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٦٤

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَـكُمُ الۡاَرۡضَ قَرَارًا وَّالسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَّصَوَّرَكُمۡ فَاَحۡسَنَ صُوَرَكُمۡ وَرَزَقَكُمۡ مِّنَ الطَّيِّبٰتِ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمۡ ​ ۖۚ فَتَبٰـرَكَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏ ۝٦٤

40:64 Allah is the One who made for you the earth a place to live, and the sky a roof, and shaped you, and made your shapes so good - and provided you with a lot of good things. That is Allah, your Lord. So, Glorious is Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

هُوَ ٱلْحَىُّ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ ۗ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٦٥

هُوَ الۡحَىُّ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ فَادۡعُوۡهُ مُخۡلِصِيۡنَ لَهُ الدِّيۡنَؕ اَلۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏ ۝٦٥

40:65 He is Ever-living. There is no god but He. So worship Him making your submission exclusive for Him. All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.

قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِىَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّى وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝٦٦

قُلۡ اِنِّىۡ نُهِيۡتُ اَنۡ اَعۡبُدَ الَّذِيۡنَ تَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِىَ الۡبَيِّنٰتُ مِنۡ رَّبِّىۡ وَاُمِرۡتُ اَنۡ اُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏  ۝٦٦

40:66 Say, “I have been ordered not to worship those whom you invoke beside Allah when clear signs from my Lord have (already) come to me, and I have been ordered that I should submit to the Lord of the worlds.”

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا۟ شُيُوخًا ۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ۝٦٧

هُوَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ مِّنۡ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِنۡ نُّطۡفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوۡۤا اَشُدَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ لِتَكُوۡنُوۡا شُيُوۡخًا ؕ وَمِنۡكُمۡ مَّنۡ يُّتَوَفّٰى مِنۡ قَبۡلُ وَلِتَبۡلُغُوۡۤا اَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَّلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ‏ ۝٦٧

40:67 He is the One who created you from dust, then from a drop of semen, then from a clot. After that, He takes you out as an infant. Then, (He makes you grow) so that you reach your full maturity, and, thereafter, become old - and some of you die earlier - and so that you reach the appointed term, and so that you understand.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ۝٦٨

هُوَ الَّذِىۡ يُحۡىٖ وَيُمِيۡتُؕ فَاِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمۡرًا فَاِنَّمَا يَقُوۡلُ لَهٗ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ‏ ۝٦٨

40:68 He is the One who gives life and brings death, and when He decides to do something, He only says to it: “Be” and it comes to be.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أَنَّىٰ يُصْرَفُونَ ۝٦٩

اَلَمۡ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيۡنَ يُجَادِلُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِؕ اَنّٰى يُصۡرَفُوۡنَ  ۛۚ ۙ‏ ۝٦٩

40:69 Have you not seen those who quarrel in Allah’s verses? From where are they being turned away (by their selfish desires?)

ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَا ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ۝٧٠

الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِالۡكِتٰبِ وَبِمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا بِهٖ رُسُلَنَا ۛ  فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ۝٧٠

40:70 - those who rejected the Book and what We sent with Our messengers. So, they will soon come to know,

إِذِ ٱلْأَغْلَٰلُ فِىٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ وَٱلسَّلَٰسِلُ يُسْحَبُونَ ۝٧١

اِذِ الۡاَغۡلٰلُ فِىۡۤ اَعۡنَاقِهِمۡ وَالسَّلٰسِلُؕ يُسۡحَبُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٧١

40:71 when shackles will be round their necks, and chains. They will be dragged

فِى ٱلْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ ۝٧٢

فِى الۡحَمِيۡمِ ۙ ثُمَّ فِى النَّارِ يُسۡجَرُوۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ۝٧٢

40:72 into the hot water after which they will be thrown into the Fire as a fuel.

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ ۝٧٣

ثُمَّ قِيۡلَ لَهُمۡ اَيۡنَ مَا كُنۡتُمۡ تُشۡرِكُوۡنَۙ‏ ۝٧٣

40:73 Then, it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to associate (in worship)

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ۝٧٤

مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ ؕ قَالُوۡا ضَلُّوۡا عَنَّا بَلْ لَّمۡ نَـكُنۡ نَّدۡعُوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ شَيۡــًٔـا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ‏ ۝٧٤

40:74 beside Allah?” They will say, “They are lost to us, rather, we used to invoke nothing at all.” This is how Allah makes disbelievers get lost.

ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ ۝٧٥

ذٰ لِكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَفۡرَحُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنۡـتُمۡ تَمۡرَحُوۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ۝٧٥

40:75 (It will be said to them,) “This is because you used to rejoice on the earth wrongfully, and because you used to show arrogance.

ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ۝٧٦

اُدۡخُلُوۡۤا اَبۡوَابَ جَهَـنَّمَ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَا ۚ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى الۡمُتَكَبِّرِيۡنَ‏  ۝٧٦

40:76 Enter the gates of Jahannam to live in it forever. So, how evil is the abode of the arrogant.

فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۚ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ ۝٧٧

فَاصۡبِرۡ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ ۚ فَاِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ الَّذِىۡ نَعِدُهُمۡ اَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَاِلَيۡنَا يُرۡجَعُوۡنَ‏ ۝٧٧

40:77 Therefore, be patient. Surely, Allah’s promise is true. Then, (O Prophet,) whether We show you (in your life) a part of the promise We are making to them, or make you die (before they are punished), in any case they have to be returned to Us.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ ۗ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ ۝٧٨

وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلًا مِّنۡ قَبۡلِكَ مِنۡهُمۡ مَّنۡ قَصَصۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ وَمِنۡهُمۡ مَّنۡ لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡ عَلَيۡكَؕ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُوۡلٍ اَنۡ يَّاۡتِىَ بِاٰيَةٍ اِلَّا بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰه​ِۚ فَاِذَا جَآءَ اَمۡرُ اللّٰهِ قُضِىَ بِالۡحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الۡمُبۡطِلُوۡنَ‏ ۝٧٨

40:78 We had sent messengers before you. Among them there are those whose history We have narrated to you, and of them there are those whose history We did not narrate to you. And it is not up to a messenger that he could come up with a sign without permission from Allah. So, when the command of Allah will come, matters will stand decided justly, and on that occasion all adherents of falsehood will turn into losers.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمَ لِتَرْكَبُوا۟ مِنْهَا وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ ۝٧٩

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الۡاَنۡعَامَ لِتَرۡكَبُوۡا مِنۡهَا وَمِنۡهَا تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ‏ ۝٧٩

40:79 Allah is the One who made for you the cattle, so that you may ride some of them,- and of them you eat;

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةً فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ ۝٨٠

وَلَكُمۡ فِيۡهَا مَنَافِعُ وَ لِتَبۡلُغُوۡا عَلَيۡهَا حَاجَةً فِىۡ صُدُوۡرِكُمۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى الۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُوۡنَؕ‏ ۝٨٠

40:80 and for you there are (other) benefits in them- and so that, (by riding) on them, you meet any need you have in your hearts; and on them and on boats you are carried.

وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَأَىَّ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ ۝٨١

وَيُرِيۡكُمۡ اٰيٰتِهٖ ۖ  فَاَىَّ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ تُنۡكِرُوۡنَ‏ ۝٨١

40:81 He shows you His signs. Then, which of the signs of Allah would you (still) deny?

أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ۝٨٢

اَفَلَمۡ يَسِيۡرُوۡا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَيَنۡظُرُوۡا كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡؕ كَانُوۡۤا اَكۡثَرَ مِنۡهُمۡ وَاَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَّ اٰثَارًا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَمَاۤ اَغۡنٰى عَنۡهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يَكۡسِبُوۡنَ‏ ۝٨٢

40:82 Have they not traveled through the earth and seen how was the fate of those before them? Most of them were more in numbers than these, and superior in vigor and vestiges left on the earth. So then, whatever they used to earn did not work for them at all.

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ۝٨٣

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَرِحُوۡا بِمَا عِنۡدَهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُوۡنَ‏ ۝٨٣

40:83 When their messengers came to them with manifest signs, they exulted because of whatever knowledge they had, and they were encircled by what they used to ridicule.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشْرِكِينَ ۝٨٤

فَلَمَّا رَاَوۡا بَاۡسَنَا قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَحۡدَهٗ وَكَفَرۡنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهٖ مُشۡرِكِيۡنَ‏ ۝٨٤

40:84 When they saw Our punishment, they said, “We have (now) come to believe in Allah alone, and We have rejected everything we used to ascribe (to Him) as partners.”

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا ۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ ۝٨٥

فَلَمۡ يَكُ يَنۡفَعُهُمۡ اِيۡمَانُهُمۡ لَمَّا رَاَوۡا بَاۡسَنَا ؕ سُنَّتَ اللّٰهِ الَّتِىۡ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ فِىۡ عِبَادِهٖ​ۚ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ‏  ۝٨٥

40:85 But, their profession of faith was not (competent) to benefit them, once they had seen Our punishment - a customary practice of Allah that has been there all along in the matter of His servants - and hence, the disbelievers became the losers.
